What a Patch Test Is
A lash patch test is a short screening to check for potential sensitivity or allergic reaction to the adhesive used during your lash extension service. At Aurelia we place a few lashes through the lash line as described in our service notes. The process is quick and precise and the booked slot for this screening is 20 MINUTES.
The test does not apply a full set or change your look; it’s a preventive step to confirm it is safe to proceed with a full appointment. Results are observed in the hours after application, so patch tests must be completed at least 24 hours prior to your full set appointment to allow time for any reaction to appear.
What to Expect at Our Studio
The patch test is a focused, single-purpose visit that fits well into a busy Del Mar schedule. Our Del Mar Heights / Via De La Valle office corridor location is convenient for commuters using I‑5 or the Coaster, and the 20 MINUTES needed makes it an easy stop before work, surf, golf, or errands around the Racetrack and village.
Clients appreciate careful, thorough service that leaves them confident to book a full set; our team follows that same approach for patch tests. Note that demand rises in May and November, when many clients complete screenings ahead of weddings, graduations and holiday gatherings, so plan ahead during those months.
Preparing and Scheduling Logistics
Scheduling is the main preparation: book the patch test so it finishes at least 24 hours before your planned full-set appointment. The session itself takes 20 MINUTES. If you have a known history of reactions to adhesives or topical eye products, tell us when you book so we can note that on your record and advise whether a patch test is recommended.
Because the test checks for sensitivity rather than delivering a cosmetic outcome, plan on a brief visit rather than a full service. Our team will document any visible reaction and advise next steps. If you’re visiting Del Mar for events at the Racetrack or Torrey Pines, consider completing the patch test early to avoid last-minute scheduling conflicts.
